Theres been loads of debate for decades as to the notion of Punk and its ongoing state of definition... or not...
i dont tend to wonder what others think so much as i am aware that so many people are still thinking about it in general... this leads me to open a thread which expores the aborted baby to the music industry called Punk Rock and find out if it was actually a still born birth of a zombie which was never about being alive but more about wanting to come to life within a dead and dying culture
dunno... i do think its incredibly difficult to separate the Avante Garde movement in music known as Nu Wave or No Wave which spawned all sorts of musical mutants and radiation sound factors
its your call to make some sense of it... maybe we can just list the groups and let others decide for themselves... your guess is good as mine and i already know what i think so tell us what you think

Elvis was no punk but he was a pill popper and a drunk... he sexed his way through the old boy network as a young handsome and smoozed his way through american politician as pig headed for the spit... but thats quite alright because his grandfolk lived on my street and he was true to his calling
i would really have to say that iggy pop was the first punk

lets put it this way... elvis was never gonna be marlon brando and take the risk of rippin hard while iggy pop didnt even need the leather jacket to protect the skin he was in
Syd was lucky to have had Iggy around but less lucky to have not made the effort on his own to learn more about what was goin down so that he didnt have to repeat every failing that faced him with the glory of the teeny tiny portion of his brain which wasnt scarred or marred with the input of others....
Face it... theres enough love to go around if you just let it be
