Recently John has taken the time while in London to stop in and visit with old friend Keith Richards for some behind the scenes planning of his soon to be larger than life story on the big screen. Is it gonna happen? We first learned of this documentary to be directed by Depp in February of 2010. Are you thinking rockumentary? Come on now if John is working the Rabbit Magic with his Mad Hat we are sure to get some fine twists and surreal moments of cerebral discussion and contemplative inspiration.
Depp presented the Scream 2009 Award for “Rock Immortal” to Keith Richards in Los Angeles and likely there was some discussion relative to a book deal on the table for some 7 million in advance from a Publishers Little, Brown and Co. Who knew it would lead to a possible film? We all did... inevitably Richards is the kind of survivor and visionary who allowed life to lead him to write some of the most classic and authentic songs in the 20th century according to many critics and fans.
The reality is that the word is still not out on the particular of the matters of making a film given the back log of engagements which Depp has secured as a leading man. Life long fans know that these friends will surely enjoy the project and its recollections once the brass tacks have been secured. Its possible that filming in Pinewood for Depp will allow for some time in discussion as the development process and specific dialogue relative to characterizations and storyboarding. Its clear that priorities of vital proportion are weighing as serious considerations for both contractual and health matters and should be appropriately respected given the fact that proper support for recovery and rest starts at home.
The year has not been an easy one since 2009 for any of these good folks given the unexpected shifting of calendars for serious personal considerations relative to everyone involved. Given these facts, Richards is set to release his life story in print as an Autobiography called 'Life' which will come out October 26th. The press caught up with Depp, Richards his wife Patti who were enjoying a calm and collected evening of good friends and measured amusement. We can likely expect to see them enjoying more time like this.
Funny part is that it seems there will be something in Keith Richards Autobiography about his "Secret Longing" to be a Librarian according to folks at Associated Content. His collection is known amongst his friends and he has been amassing quite the collection of titles in his personal library for some time.
Richards worked with contributor James Fox to tell all about Rocks most Pervasive band as well as allow his audience to learn more about his on-again off-again dealings with drugs and even Mick Jagger along with his great respect for the Dewey Decimal System despite its rigors as part of considering setting up a lending process for friends and taking the time to hand pick his favorites for guests. Richards bottom-lined the idea that it was more than he was willing to take on as opposed to arranging them according to his interests and accessibility to his favorites.
Ultimately, Its clear that John is filming at Pinewood but its not really clear how much time he can give to completing this project given his thoroughness and commitment to the sort of characterization which makes him an A-List Talent. Its possible that he will be teaming up with his editors here and there on the side to reference the book he has likely compiled as directorial references.
We can only hope that he uses his natural flair we have come to expect from all his projects as both thorough production style will stay true to the spirit of the Richards Vision. One can only hope that his inspiration has knitted together some good work habits with Richards while he is wrapped in the cloak and clockwork of Barnabus Collins. Regardless we really should keep in mind that this may be working.
Keep in mind that there will definitely be some complex planning as this is a high profile biopic which might need a bit of finesse with regards to the vast number of celebrities and their representation. Whether or not Mr. Jagger will have a good bit of input regarding his characterization in the documentary is hard to say but its also not really even being discussed if he will show up for the Pirates filming given the announcement sometime back in April when there was brief notice that Sir Jagger would be in tow for pirates... Surprises in store?? It's all possible!
Its possible that John may have needed a stiff drink according to some recent rough housing with the high seas and mayhem or not....
Check out the similar scars that come from playing Captain Jack year after year.... we have seen all these before when he was shooting on the last film.
