After seeing the good stuff on the shelves at Infinitum Nihil Blogspot, I realized that there is a world of good books passing through the hands and over the desks of John's company right now...
One would think that it would be tough to choose how to make it all happen in the Long Range of Dark Shadows associated such an impressive figure as John Dillinger or Captain Jack and his ongoing Rum Diary... but that is just not so... Blink an eye and another director is on the move towards something brilliant and pervasively interesting with only a handful of magic beans....
Given that we all are on the edge of our seat to see what happens with the scripts and developments associated with the Serial Movies Lone Ranger and Dark Shadows, the fact remains that the rest of the Globe might want something a bit less syndicated premiering at their theatres. Tough, tough spot to be in... choosing between investing in Blockbuster or Wallet buster.... Who is to say how the priorities will run as everyone will have their day and their dime in the jukebox player for 3 minutes. I say full guns for the multitude of directions with productions that can find some sponsorship and partners.
With that, Let us look at Scorsese directing The Invention of Hugo Cabret... This film is going to be landmark if the right cinematography gets put into it and some real thought into location/staffing. One would guess that Paris will be mandatory but working with the provinces might be a smarter way to ravel some pieces and bits into the B-roll cabinet or even going out to Romania according to what I heard about affordability there. Its really in the hands of Scorsese to interpret it though... Great news is that it rolling!

Actually, we might just want to take a bigger look around at what the loyal fans and fiction market are interested in. I am seeing lots of Film Noir and some slapdash gore but the political stuff seems a hard sell for now. After sizing the following films up, in comparison with a few others that are either being optioned or are currently acknowledged as 'in development', I thought I would share a bit more detail as to what is not even near the table for contract and consideration.
So without further delay... the following movies seemed to be far adrift from the Infinitum Nihil shelf and yet seemingly worth a moment of consideration and possibly worth a synopsis at least:
Madman... This one is a sleeping giant in the graphic novel category according to who would step up to develop and produce it as it closely and sees it through its paces in my opinion.... How many graphic novels have we seen come to the screen in the past 10 years?
It leaves a lot of room for the imagination... but what is most important is that it fits with the lives and times of the audiences who need something to really get their minds around... What is it that would make MadMan shine and rise above the dark ocean on a moonless night?? I would say look to the character of Rorschach who nearly stole the Watchmen into the closet and demanded his own script....
This review at the comicbookmovie.como site offers tentative hope at best on the notion... I personally think this one with some strong imagination could rip a new swatch of cloth from the cape of masked phantoms and sci-fi junkies everywhere because its all about what makes the MadMan mad... No??

Here's the run down on it from Freebase.com...
Madman is the motion picture adaptation of the creator-owned comic book of the same name by Mike Allred. The movie will be co-directed by Allred and George Huang (similar to the way Robert Rodriguez co-directed the comic book-film Sin City with its creator, Frank Miller). Rodriguez will serve as "executive producer" on this film. Currently, the plot for the film is unknown.
What's it about? An unidentified body, killed in a car accident, is found and taken to the home of Dr. Boiffard, who is able to resurrect the body, and give him super-human coordination and precognicient insight, but still no memories of who he was in life. Dr. Boiffard names him Frank Einstein (after Frank Sinatra and Albert Einstein). Frank becomes Dr. Boiffard's lab assistant, and the crazed crime fighter known as Madman. www.countingdown.com/movies/3334584
Rodriguez has gone on record as saying that it would not be a word-for-word, panel-for-panel translation of a specific story from the comic (as was Sin City), but rather an adaptation of the titular character and his world (similar to Guillermo del Toro's film Hellboy, based on Mike Mignola's comic). Allred had received several offers for a low-budget adaptation of Madman in the early 1990s. In 1998, he gave the film rights to Robert RodrÃguez who had the intention of shooting it soon after. However, the movie was put on the back-burner.
Screenplay and Directed by:
* George Huang
* Mike Allred
* Robert Rodriguez
Produced by:
* Elizabeth Avellan
When it comes right down to it, I would have to say that the release of MadMan as a Dark Horse Graphic Novel gone feature film seems like a better bet than continuing on with the Sin City Series at present.
Even more to the point, if we are talking about a film that will pull a cult following and has fans coast to coast and continent to continent... its got to be Geek Love...
